Golden find in the street

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Tuesday 29th Oct 2002.

RETIRED Kenneth Parker found more than he bargained for when he was out shopping in Swindon town centre.

Mr Parker, 72, of Cranmore Avenue, Park South, was looking for bargains when something gold and expensive caught his eye.

It turned out to be a 22-carat gold ring he found in the street near the Havelock Street entrance to the Brunel Centre.

The gold ring has three distinctive letters printed on the inside and is clearly a wedding or engagement ring.

Mr Parker said: "I was walking along the street when a glint suddenly caught my eye on the pavement.

"I couldn't believe it when I looked closely and it turned out to be a wedding ring.

"It's incredible really and not something you would expect to find on the street. I've had a close look and it's 22-carat gold, so is obviously valuable and means a lot to someone.

If you think the ring may be yours then call (01793) 490924.
